Ruth Anna Hicks published the
photograph on the left, furnished by Gerald B. Cox, in Issue #11 of the Cox
Newsletter, and identified it as the family of Hiram and Alice Cox, taken in
Beatrice, Nebraska in 1884. The children were Lewis, age 14; George,
about 12; Fred, age 10; Joseph, age 7; and Kenneth, b. 1883. The
photograph on the right was recently forwarded by Vickie Frank of
Waterloo, Nebraska (a Mary ( Cox) Freeland descendant), who identifies it as a
photograph of the Hiram Cox family. It appears to have been taken
about 1901. The girl who is second from the right would be Mary L. Cox
(b. 1885), and the boy in front of her would be Charles (b. 1887). The
couple on the left of the photograph would presumably be Lewis Cox and his
wife Jessie. The four youngest children would be their four oldest
sons, born between 1894 and 1899. I would be interested in hearing
from anyone else who has a copy of the photograph on the right. |
